The Importance of an Independent Press

Black Americans are only 13% of the US population, but nearly half of new HIV-AIDS cases. It is expected that half of gay black men will contract HIV at some point in their life. Around three quarters of a million people throughout the world still die every year of a disease that is entirely manageable. The problem has not gone away and will never go away, so long as capitalism continues to exist. But this point will never be made or put front and center in any press dependent on and beholden to the capitalist system.
