What Are the Mechanisms Used to Support Ecosystem Services?
The book describes, in literally dozens of cases from all over the world, where governments are supporting natural capital in a variety of different ways. One being government payments or subsidies. Another is regulatory mechanisms that require folks who damage natural capital on ecosystem service to mitigate those impacts. A third is voluntary mechanisms such as organizationsor companies voluntarily decide to protect or enhance ecosystem services. And then finally, multi lateral and bilateral mechanisms, which are between different national governments.
