More than half an hour isn't going to have a better effect. If you're driving and coming through the window, is that still effective? It's not as effective as being outside, but it is still effective. The other thing that I was going to mention is exercise. A short burst of aerobic exercise is the best thing that has increased their alertness in the morning.
