The Computer and the Brain
John von Neumann was a consultant for IBM on the design of computers. He famously made statements like, the United States will never need more than five computers and some other things which weren't very successfully forward looking. But in any case he described many of the devices in computers as organs. So that was another piece of what sort of came into the AI world.
