There's a lot at stake here when children's lives are on the line. So it's in your interest to hide your competitive impulses as best as you can, especially also given that women often throughout human history were away from their genetic kin. And so with these tactics, this indirect aggression, you tend to see that perhaps unsurprisingly, the individuals who are most often targeted and victimized are those who tend to be appealing in mating domains.
