Infiltration Rates of Water in Sinkholes
Five summers ago, I was working as a biological field technician in Grand Canyon National Park and got to help my coworkers do some data collection on sinkholes. The purpose of our trip was to measure infiltration rates of water in sinkholes. We had two tubes set up and they were draining slow, so we decided that we would take turns making trips to the car for more water while one of us monitored the infiltration setup. After 20 minutes, I started wondering where she was. After 25 minutes, I was starting to get worried.
