The Role of Laboratory Investigations in Diagnosing Sarcoidosis

A lot of people will be surprised by the prevalence of sarcoid eye disease in patients with sarcoidosis. The need for vitamin D replacement is very common, and I view the 25-hydroxyvitamin D level as a marker of disease activity. Hypercalcemia is noted to be the commonest cause of sarcoodosis-related renal insufficiency but tends to be quite responsive to immunosuppressive agents.
