The Importance of Navigation Icons in Interfaces

Hannah Shank talks about overuse of the navigation icon, which I couldn't agree more with. Even that icon, which is used all over the place, not everyone understands it. Getting there is difficult because, as you see in this example, it's used and abused. But then you can be just as inconsistent using words. So if you've got a restaurant website page and you've got an option says menu, what does it mean? See, got you there.
