What I Learned About Semitic Languages in the Marine Corps
The challenges of learning arabic to english speakers are in three categories. One is certainly the alphabet, right? That's the first thing you see as the letters are squiggly. And some letters change form depending on whether they're standing alone or at the beginning of the word. The second challenge, i think, is pronunciation. I don't want to be embarrassed by mispronouncing where they're so strange and their sound. These dialects generally involve not only the use of different vocabulary, but a certain pronunciatory style. And then there are additional differences between modern standard arabic called fusha which is spoken across the world speaking those who are educated in that particular place
