The Cost of Carbon Dioxide
We need to build enough storage to firm all of the renewable resources we're building. And a lot of that is going to have to be longer duration than batteries are capable of providing. Most people are building one hour and four-hour batteries and say I'm good and they're not. They may do better on our own. But you're not going to keep the lights on overnight if you don't have longer duration storage in your car. We're looking at a 42% increase in the cost of the carbon dioxide. And we're going to need to decarbonize buildings. So we're asking essentially for double the amount of electricity we have today, 45%.
