The Rise and Fall of Melrose Place
By the end of season one, Heather Locklear's reoccurring role as Amanda Woodward was made a permanent part of the show. Despite the addition of Amanda and the soapy slant given to the show, Melrose Place still struggled,. It ranked at about 110 out of 140 shows in the Nielsen ratings. Fox didn't give up on the show just yet. It ordered a 32 episode second season, which began in September 1993.
