Is There a Real World Application of Light Touch in Autism?

There are disorders that affect our sense of touch. Many pervasive developmental disorders including children with autism frequently have overreactivity to light touch, touch that wouldn't necessarily bother them. We think that some individuals with autism can be over sensitive or overreactive to light touch because of alterations at that synapse in a very low level of the hierarchy.
