The Talmud Is a Compendium of Rabbinic Arguments
The Talmud is an enormous compendium of rabbinic argument. It's not a code of law, it's the record of rabbinic arguments. One rabbi thinks it should be this way, the other rabbi thinks it shouldn't be that way. And when you go to a house of study, or when you study in a high school, you're continuing that argument. So basically, it's like, it's not an accident that there are a lot of Jewish lawyers. The profession of the religion is a training in Argument and Textual Study.
