Why Is a Man Who Wants to Be Stopped?

Before his arrest, david berkewitz writes a letter in which he says there's a satanic cult in the area that believes it's been ordered by the devil to kill people for ritualistic purposes. He doesn't want to kill, but feels that he must - perhaps because he's in too deep with this violent colt and he's being ordered to kill. Yet he wants to be killed by the police so that he can be stopped, because he doesn't belong on earth. There are other sons out there. God help the world.
