Jacob's Passiveness in a Disgraceful Situation
Shechem's father goes to Jacob and requests that they make arrangements for marriage. We know Jacob has heard about these events, but the sons in the fields, they're out with the livestock. So Jacob keeps quiet about it until they come home. He hasn't gone out and drawn them in immediately. And that's particularly interesting because when we get deeper into this book, he seems to be much more proactive when one of his sons go missing or something potentially bad happens to one of sons.
