The Parakeet Crisis

The Starling is a bird that always comes up when people talk about the dangers of invasive species. A German immigrant named Eugene Schieflen wanted to bring birds from Europe to the New World, so other European immigrants would feel more at home. There's only one mention of Starlings in all of Shakespeare, and not a very important one.
