Some things that get admitted as free speech in the context of protecting the Republic are in fact going to be deeply offensive. And we just decided at some point along the way, better that you're offended than shielded from things you need to hear. The politician in Massachusetts who proposed this was called the B word repeatedly on Twitter last night, which I thought was endlessly amusing.
