The History of Illumination Technology
Lamps go back at least as far as the late paleolithic period. All you need is a reservoir of fuel and a wick made from plant fibre, or even something like human hair. Tons of lamps survive from the ancient world. They illuminate your environment. It doesn't turn night time into day but i provides some of the illumination that you would have in the daytime with this concentrated form.
