Ettory Majorana and the Nuclear Weapons Race

Ettory Majorana proposed the existence of the neutrino in 1937, but they weren't actually confirmed to exist until 1956. The discovering scientist Frederick Reines was later awarded the Nobel Prize for finding it. It is likely that Ettory would have made this discovery much sooner if he hadn't vanished.
