In 18 84 the great european colonial powers came together and basically decided that they each wanted a chunk of this region. They all agreed that, firstly, they all had the right to do it. And so what they didn't do was try and build stable countries. That wasn't in their best interests. So building these unstable countries was part of the plan, so that, for as long as possible, the european powers could take and extract as much as they could. It's important to remember that these are artificial countries. They were not created by the africans on the ground. You know, when that is the basis for your existence, it is incredibly difficult
