The Importance of Currency in the Global Foreign Exchange Market

Australia has about $94 billion worth of foreign currencies held in reserve. The strength of our dollar can go up and down, so how strong it is has big determinants in the wider economy. Making currency too strong can have adverse effects in your economy. So we need to find a balance that doesn't have negative impacts on too many sectors of your economy. Strong currencies are great for one way or the other but they're awful for the tourism sector.
