The Long Tail or Transaction Cost?
I think the big thing that sort of made the idea click in my head was this idea of either called like the long tail or like transaction cost. Chris Anderson, he's an editor at Wired magazine, and he wrote a book about how to make money on the internet. He observed that once you had the internet, there was effectively zero marginal costs to sacking additional product. Amazon has 100 million bucks available right now, but it doesn't work because they can't have Barnes and Nobles can have 100 million bucks.
