China has a crucial role in almost all our priority problem areas. Despite this, there is relatively poor understanding and coordination between China and the West. There are lots of backup options if you pursue a path of improving China Western coordination on AI. It's far from guaranteed you'd have a large impact in this career. The development and societal integration of AI would need to have major potential downsides and or upsides. And finally, coordination problems would need to be solvable but not solved by default.
