The Influence of Judaism on Christianity
The virgin conception idea comes from late first or early second century Christian thinkers as they began developing the notion of divinity for Jesus. Hellenistic Judaism had a profound influence on Christianity which was initially seen as a Jewish reform movement, in which of course Jesus played a significant part. Even Paul, writing perhaps 20 years or so after the death of Jesus, is working at a time when Christianity was not yet wholly separate from Judaism. And of course, the influence of Plato and neo-Platonism on Christianity simply can't be overstated.
