Is the Brain a Predictive Engine?
A neural representation occurs because there are a bunch of neurons that are firing together in a way that can stand for things in the world. Predictive processing has been very popular lately, and I think it's got largely undeserved popularity. There are real problems with the hypotheses about how the brain is a predictive engine. We don't just predict this but also explain things have already happened.
