Stan's Off Petrov, I'll Give It My Best Shot
Stan's Off Petrov should be one of, if not the most famous person in all of human history. He is widely believed to have been single-handly almost entirely responsible for we didn't have a World War III back in 1983. The Soviet Union had just mistaken a Korean passenger jet that was flight 7 for a spy plane and shot it down after it's straight into Siberian airspace. This could well have ended human civilization.
