Gay men and lesbian women have been exposed to different levels of androgens in the womb when they're developing as fetuses. The brain is impacted, especially sites in the brain that are related to sexual attractions. As a result, the individuals are more likely to be gay or lesbian. It's a direct effect of testosterone exposure in the womb that might affect areas of the brain potentially related to sexual attraction.
