The Definition of AKI

Dr. Toph: AKI has been something that's been, it's kind of like the definition of pornography. It's hard to define, but you know it when you see it. The urine output thing, unless they have a Foley, you're probably not going to know how many ml per gig per minute they have. No urine equals no GFR. You can't be reassured by that stable creatinine. If someone is coming into the hospital in heart failure, do you get a similar dilution? And then you start to diurese them, you might, it starts to go up, but stabilizes at a point.
