It's a good transition because that's right before he confronts Han Solo on the bridge. I kind of wish they kept that in. And it makes sense that some sort of security was triggered that the ship landed. Still my favorite comic book cover is when they did the Darth Vader special issue number one and he's in the blizzard. It just looks cool.
