We don't trust the Bible as scripture because it claims to be scripture anymore than we trust the Quran or the Bhagavad Gita. Jesus' view of the scriptures was over the top high, he said things like, the scripture cannot be broken. I would argue there is no version of legitimate apprenticeship to Jesus that does not have a central place for the Bible and does not read the Bible as Scripture.
