What Is the Best of Evangelicalism?

In the 19 fifties, evangelical values were held dear by many white middle class Americans. The civil rights movement challenges ideals of american greatness and goodness. And conservative evangelicals feel like they are on the margins once again. So that keeping the church strong is also part of this sense of American exceptionalism.
