Is It Conceivable That Both the USSR and USA Had Atomic Weapons?

I'm as against nuclear weapons as anybody on the left, but I think it's at least arguable that they saved more lives. The fact that both the USSR and USA had atomic weapons, it's conceivable that that stopped a, a open war between the two superpowers. Don't you think? Yeah, and well, I mean. I mean, that's not a crazy idea. Like, there was plenty of horrible evil before nuclear weapons, and there's plenty that emerged after. So I just, I think to take that as some kind of apocal moment in human history is lies thinking.
