Easter Island Statues

Easter Island statues or Moai were carved by the descendants of Polynesian voyagers who first settled the island during the beginning of the 13th century. A grand total of 887 and the mysterious carved figures have been discovered, ranging in height from 4 to 33 feet. Some theorists have proposed the islanders drag the statues across the island, using long lengths of hemp woven rope; others believe that they were rolled on the trunk of fallen palm trees. Ancient alien prominent Erik Van Donakan even speculates that the Moai were built and erected by extraterrestrials.
