Lewis's Approach to Literary Criticism
Lewis's approach to the Holy Scriptures is like that of all good literature: Genre counts. He wants poetry to be read as poetry, proverbs to be proverbs and stories to be stories. Lewis viewed the gospel text as fairly reliable history; they're not myth or allegorical but reliable sources for what happened when Jesus walked the earth.
