I suggest that starting with stories and reasoning through stories, public argument through stories foregrounding our beliefs and our values is a better way to proceed. But recognizing that these different narratives reveal the diverse conflicting social norms and values provides a more complex picture of a society's coherence or lack their offers as Dylan puts it.
