The Importance of Language in Social Interaction

We don't really have a lot of idea about what's actually going on in our interactions under the surface. We attribute intentions to others and then act in accordance with that. But where I would really want to say that the action is more in the public kind of behavior that happens around the things that get said when we use language. So, if we're having a conversation in the same way as any other kind of social interaction, baking and cake together or going for a walk together...we've signed up to this joint activity. And whenever there's a departure from any of those things, well, we have to account for it. That's what you really see the human coming into things
