The Pros and Cons of Being Charged With Crime
Most cases resolved by settlement of one kind or another that's civil and criminal. If the state charges my client with murder and never offers us anything other than plead guilty and go to prison, then I don't my client doesn't have a tough choice. We're just going to go to trial and see what happens. That's the tough choice for the client because if they roll the dice and lose, they're going to catch that mandatory minimum 25 years or whatever it may be. So most cases resolve it as a criminal defense lawyer. My job is to beat the offer. But nobody likes to sign up and agree to, you know, plead guilty and gone to prison.
