The Importance of Human Rationality

Man is the rational animal. We deliberate and decide on particular courses of action in light of how they can be ordered to ends beyond our sense, imagination or memory. The relationship between human freedom and divine power raised questions both for christian faith and for philosophical or natural theology with christian faith. Saint augustine will provide us a powerful example. He asks where does evil come from? His answer, evil can't come from god, so it must be caused by a free, but disordered, created will.
