Like is the ultimate in subjectivity because it allows us to set up a comparison. It's actually very valuable, but people dismiss it because of its association with women. We express certainty and uncertainty in language all the time. Do you ever say possibly? do you ever say maybe? Do youever say might? Do you ever says could? All of those are epistemic markers. What that means is they're markers of the extent of certainty. Like is just another one of those features and we just don't like it because ofIts association historically with young women. But it's inaccurate because actually young men use it too. They do.
