The Origins of the Early 18th Century Shift

Dodgerich believed that the use of such non-scriptural terms led ultimately to a party spirit and to a divisiveness amongst Christians which he wanted to avoid. He did not encourage the use or subscription at least of creeds and confessions. So it seems to me that that is the area, that's the time period,. that's the milieu in which we should be looking.
