How to Write a Linear Story About the Holocaust
"I think it's very difficult, maybe impossible to write a sort of very straightforward linear story about the Holocaust," she says. "It ends up feeling either cliche or, or melodramatic or sensationalized so I knew I didn't want to do that." She adds: "Sometimes the only way to write about it in a way that feels true is indirectly ... and with writing about certain things, especially the Holocaust, it's tricky to be direct"
