Regulators Should Focus on Onshore and Offshore Markets
If there is more regulation onshore, though, won't that actually be an added incentive for people to move offshore? It is the million dollar question. How do we regulate in a manner that encourages innovation but doesn't thwart risk taking? And I think we can find that balance. You will definitely have an onshore and offshore market emerge. Stablecoin is a great example. Tether is the dollar unit of collateral for the Asia system and probably going to stay that way. But it will never trade in the US. So I think we'll end up with this delicate balance where you will have these offshore markets.
