Anastasia Collettan's Story
The trial was supposed to last 17 weeks, but instead lasted six thanks to Basal's refusal to participate. There was no defense put forward whatsoever. No witnesses were called. The amicus curie asked the questions, saving Eva from having to give her answers to Basal himself in the prisoners' box. He came to life for a second time halfway through the judge's instructions to the jury.
