The Different Types of Complexity

The mathematician Warren Weaver distinguished between problems of simplicity and disorganized complexity. In the middle ground, we have what he called organized complexity. And that's where at different scales, you can see complexity. Now, we should introduce another piece of jargon, which is the word emergence. You cannot talk about biology and psychology in terms of an elementary particle. The idea was that by looking at the smaller and smaller components, we're looking at the fundamental nature of the reality around us.
