Kushman: We all make minor mistakes that can have harmful effects. Our first response is often to make an excuse, he says. Kushman rethought his response and realized it was important not to say these are circumstances beyond my control. If I want to escape blame, I can always explain why you should hold me responsible for my mistakes,. But if I want to create better outcomes, I can take responsibility for that because then I'm less likely to make the same mistake again.
