Hydraulic Fracturing in the Mining Industry

Mining uses hydralic fracturing for two main applications. The one used in mind planning is what they call stress testing. They drill a small diameter hole, install an inflamable packer and then pump water in between them to create a fracture. Once you've created a break, you can open and close the break to better characterize the groundyou coand also installwhat we call an impression packrom of that fracture. It's preconditioning, a pre conditioning of the rock mass for blockcaving.
