Celiac disease is a true gluten alergy. Certain people who have a particular m h c molecule called h l a d c o specifically combine that damnated glidan paptide in the m h c. And for some reason those tea cells were not tolerized during development, but were eliminated during positive negative selection. They are available, and they can recognize that m h c, and then they can cause disease. Then you get antibodies to the gluten molecules. It causes a pretty serious inflammation in the gut,. basically a failure to obtain nutrients because of theinflammation in the gut. So these these babies that have this disease, they start to have failure to thrive.
