What's the Principal Agent Problem?

The principal agent problem is when you have some one in charge, and they might put their own personal interests ahead of the interests of the business. And this is something that could still happen with a business owner or business founder if maybe they just want to get rich at the expense of all the other holders. But i still think that when the founder is in charge, they have a unique perspective on the business and the industry. So i have a really strong preference for founder lead businesses.
