He was a preacher. He had this sort of earthy way of taking ideas in the Bible and imbuing them with an earthy, rustic, peasant sensibility. People loved to see how he could interpret their own lives for them. I think there's an element of the showman about him. And he played up his peasant nature, his peasant background. Aware that this had a profound impact.
