The Courage of Cher Ami
Cher Ami the homing pigeon was shot more than once during World War One. The German army knew there was a message he was carrying and they didn't want it delivered. Americans decided to attach a message to the leg of one of the homing pigeons telling their allies that the weapons they were firing were falling on their own men. Despite his injuries, Cher Ami made the important flight in record time.
